Use AI to Design Your Dream Kitchen (Before You Call a Contractor)

Want your dream kitchen without spending thousands on design revisions? Start with AI.

Here’s my advice: Don’t just tell AI what you want. Show it what you have.

Take pictures of your current kitchen, upload them to ChatGPT, and start experimenting. Try different cabinet colors, countertops, backsplashes, flooring, lighting, and layouts. Want a modern farmhouse kitchen? Go for it. Want something that looks like a million bucks without spending a million bucks? AI can help you explore your options.

Here’s how to do it right:

  1. Take pictures. Get photos of your kitchen from several angles.

  2. Get creative. Ask AI to redesign your kitchen in different styles, colors, and finishes. Don't settle on the first idea.

  3. Dial in the details. Test cabinet styles, hardware, countertops, lighting, and flooring until you find the look you love.

  4. Make a game plan. Use your final designs to create a list of materials, finishes, and features you want.

  5. Bring it to your contractor. Use those images as a visual guide so you can communicate what you want before construction begins.

One important thing: AI can make a kitchen look amazing in a picture, but it doesn't automatically know your measurements, structural limitations, plumbing, electrical requirements, or actual material costs. Have your contractor verify the details, measurements, and feasibility before ordering materials or starting work.

My biggest tip? The more specific you are with AI, the better your results. And the better your vision is before your contractor starts, the fewer surprises you're likely to have along the way.

AI won't replace a good contractor, but it can help you become a much more prepared homeowner.

Design it with AI. Plan it with your contractor. Build it right the first time.
